Rootstown Area Chamber of Commerce Minutes Next Meeting March 11, 2008 Members present: Jackie Waltz (Portage Community Bank) Dave Moulton (Wood Kortright Borkoski Funeral Home) Chris Leising (American Monument and Granite Company) Dave Armentrout (Rootstown Township) Linda Hankins (Key Bank) Barbara Sorkin (Rootstown Lions Club) Amy Cordle (First Place Bank) Peg Turner (Charter Member) Ruth Haney (Watkins Products) Joe Paulus (Aloha Computer services, LLC) Karen Hagan (Miracle on Main Street/Kent Office Supply) Kristie McCully (Portage County Mental Healthy & Recovery Board) Vicki Epling (Epling Estates) Karen Donovan (Girlfriend’s Closet) Amie Cajka (Portage County Mental Health & Recovery Board) Secretary (Minutes) Approved: Linda Hankins/Dave Armentrout Treasurers Report Approved: Dave Moulton/Ruth Haney Old Business: Membership letters were sent out. Vicki and Karen will keep in communication about who is joining in the next several weeks. We need to set up a meeting for proof reading for the 2008 brochures. Our membership goal is March 1st to have all applications in. Community Calendar – Amy and Joe will get together with Wes. We may possibly get bids or solicit donations from organizations to cover the cost of the website. Jackie explained that there is a need to get the calendar on line. Joe will talk with West to see if he could possibly lower his price. Joe explained to all what the $400.00 includes. Installation and Networking Dinner – The food was great but there was a lack of attendance. New Business Peg Turner suggested putting an additional sign at the bottom of the sign at the corner of St Rt 44 and Rt 18 and include our website at the bottom. It was suggested that all in attendance at the meeting will enter their business card or name on a piece of paper into a drawing for a gift card. Dave Armentrout made the amendment. Joe Paulus seconded the amendment. Scholarship Committee – Jackie will contact Sabrina Christian Bennett to see if she will chair the Scholarship Committee this year. Barb Streem, Linda Hankins, Vicki Epling, Memorial Day Jackie asked Linda to organize this event for the Chamber this year. She did a great job last year. Linda said she would be out of town that weekend but would organize and Dave Moulton and Vickie offered to help. Jackie met with Dan Smith from the Kent Chamber. Dan is putting together a networking luncheon in April in Kent. Jackie expressed what a great opportunity this would be for everyone. It is to take place at the American Legion on Mogadore Road in Kent. The cost of the luncheon is $10.00 Congratulations! to Ruth Haney. She was promoted to the manager in her area. Thank you to our speaker Roger Wilhelm who showed us exercises and suggestions for our aching backs. Next Meeting March 11, 2008 8:00 a.m. Guest speaker: Jim Gerran Jim is an interesting speaker. He specializes in promotional movies, training videos, interactive media and video to DVD transfers. Welcome to our new members!
